What the Difference is Between the Path of Exile PC and XBox One?

With coming off the successful launch of Path of Exile’s 3.1 launch, Grinding Gear Games has released an XBox One version for nearly every region around the world. Path of Exile on XBox One, like it’s bigger PC brother, is free to play and can be found simply by searching for it on XBox One store. Players can also buy POE xbox currency.

You might be wondering what the difference is or what may be missing between the PC version and XBox One version. Well for starters, the XBox One version as you might imagine uses controller rather than keyboard and mouse. Because of this, navigating menus and such is going to feel quite different. The UI as seen in the trailer, is also dramatically different. Reading from around the web, the community seems split on it’s design while also noting a lack of an option to scale the UI to a different size. There are no chat channels, no custom loot filters, no guilds, and there is no cross-play with PC. As far as when or if any of those missing features would make it to XBox One is anybodies guess.

Trading is also handled quite differently. Chris described the system as a ‘garage sale’ where players can search for a type of item and hundreds of choices will come out: some good and others not so much. This type of system would be more much convenient with a controller while not allowing players to instantly upgrade themselves with the perfect gear.*

Path of Exile is free to play, so if you own an XBox One, I see no reason not to try it. If anything, the more people are playing and giving feedback, the better and faster support it will likely get in future patches.

Permanent elder influence shouldn't be the game - Path of Exile

Right now getting elder to spawn on a t10-t15 shaped map is way too fucking good. Did you know how this works is if you get elder to spawn on a map and you don't kill the guardians you get permanent elder influence on the map elder is in. However, How to Solve Permanent Elder Influence on Maps? Today we are sharing with you that we found on the PoE forums.

1) I wanted Elder on Bog, so I ran a buttload of maps to move him across the Atlas, figured out strategies to speed up the process/improve my odds, and I had to do this maybe ten or so times in total before I got it. Now I am rewarded for my effort. Extra bonus: Vault is just beyond a guardian, and is contested by both Shaper and Elder!

Then I spent a day in Excel working out the optimal way to block sextant mods, spent many, many ex implementing it, and now my Atlas looks like this.

2)Sextant blocking + running a single shaped map has been the single best strategy since 2.4, i dont know what youre talking about. it just shows now a lot more, since you are heavily punished if you are running normal t14-t15 maps instead of shaped vault.

like, currently t15 maps bossfights are a massive shitfest. the time i spend waiting for a single t15 boss transitioning between its bullshit forced phases, i kill a full enraged shaped bog boss. lets not even talk about t14 maps. did anyone at GGG fight dark forest boss? or run a single palace? who in their right mind would say "yeah, i can see people running this map instead of a shaped vault"?

the other thing is sextant blocking. the reason you need sextant blocking in the first phase is because sextants are really expensive, and they can roll a handful of awful mods. why would i spend 7c on a red sextant just to have a 30% chance of it giving me absolutely fucking nothing?

shaped vault currently is just a goldmine where all 4 of the relevant things combine: good divcards, good layout, easy boss, ton of sextant spots. i can see shaped vault being more expensive than any t15 map in a few days, which is a massive fucking oversight from the devs.

3) Perm Elder or Shaper Elder flip flop on Shaped maps is hands down the best strat for map sustain this league.

Instead of making transversing the Atlas have a bonus, the new system just makes plopping down on Shaped maps even more valuable than ever.

Still think GGG should have implemented Elder globally rather than uniquely to individual Atlases and had his influence jump all over the Atlas. At least that way people would have to run other maps to take advantage of the bonuses Elder grants.

As it is, we just treat Elder like an additional sextant that increases map and loot drops substantially while having the massive downside of completely losing that bonus if you actually kill him.

4) Seems to mainly boil down to how sextants function. A sextant rework could make the current system feel a lot better. But likely we'll see a rework to both mechanics after the 3.1 postmortem.

As it stands, you'd have to get a pretty damn nice Watcher's Eye to compensate for losing sextant blocking and Elder/Shaper perm setups and the currency and maps and new rares that come along with them.

Path of Exile: How to Play Atlas Better?

Are you a new player to experience the specific features of Atlas? But, you should bear in mind that the Atlas is incredibly complicated.

The Atlas is the endgame for Path of Exile. When you finish the story, around level 70, you gain access to ‘maps,’ which are new zones to run. These are all part of the Atlas, which is really just a large collection of maps that serve as a visual representation of the locations you are visiting.

All of the maps start at tier one, and progress all the way to tier 16. Each of the tier one maps start in the corner of the maps, and you’ll move towards the center, gaining tiers and difficulty as you go. As you make your way through the Atlas, you will encounter all the enemies you fought throughout the story, as well as some new mobs. Same goes for bosses. There are 157 maps on the Atlas, and they’re all packed to the brim with things that want to kill you.

How do you collect maps? Here is what you need to know:

Whenever you are in a map of any tier, mobs have a chance to drop maps instead of regular loot. These maps can be the same tier, one tier higher, or any tier lower than the one you’re currently running.

In other words, if you’re playing a tier 4 map, you have a chance of a tier 5, tier 4, tier 3, tier 2, or tier 1 map dropping. However, the possible map drops only include maps that are connected in some way to the pathways you currently have access to on your Atlas.

A map gets added to the list of possible map drops once you beat the boss and clear the level.

The monsters you kill on a map can only drop a map connected to the one you are already running. For example, Graveyard is a tier 1 map that is connected to Marshes, a tier 2 map. In order for me to find my first Marshes (tier 2) map, I have to find it while running Graveyard (tier 1), since the two maps are directly connected. Any mob in a Graveyard map can drop a Marshes map, allowing me to then run Marshes.

Don’t worry about getting a bunch of copies of maps you’ve already cleared. You can sell three copies of a map to an NPC vendor in order to get a map that’s one tier higher. In other words, if you can’t find a Marshes map, sell three Graveyards for one.
As you advance, bosses can drop maps that are two tiers higher. However, you need to have actually unlocked the tier in between the current map and the map that’s two tiers higher for this to be possible. There’s no skipping over maps!

If you have completed a map and killed the boss, then it’s permanently added to the list of maps you can find. So if you’re running a tier four map, you can drop a different tier four map that you’ve completed, even though they aren’t connected. This is great for building up a map pool, but it doesn’t help you move forward on the Atlas.

Skills Gems – Pick all the skill gems that you think you’ll need for your build and pretty much skill gems have its own value depending on the server’s population. The demand for skill gems go higher if the server has many people on it, skill gems are affected by the population overtime.

Support Gems – These gems are quite rare and you wouldn’t know when you’re going to need it so pick it up.

Quality Gems – It’s rare but it pretty much doesn’t have trade potential. Since it’s rare, you have to pick it. You wouldn’t know when the community is going to ask for it.
Magic Quality Equipments – Blue items only work in the early game. You won’t be able to sell it in the market in during your high level stage because people need rare items on their higher levels.

Rare Quality equipments – The principle in every MMORPG is that you have to pick every rare item.

Items that are not worth picking up

Low Stat White Accessories – pretty much useless, although, white accessories that have high stat bonus tend to be more valuable than blue accessories that have low stat bonus.
Scrolls – In the early game, scrolls have their values. As you level up scrolls lose its value.
However, in the long run, some crappy items will start to have their value as the game grew old, because the game’s admin will make events that will probably require those crappy items that players usually think it’s rubbish. It doesn’t happen very often so don’t worry.

Some Sort of Special Loot in Path of Exile

Abaxoth has long needed some sort of special loot (unique items, special modded rare, special base, etc) based on the map tier he spawns. Risk deserves reward, and reward in an arpg is loot.

Path of Exile treats disappointment as a valid type of reward. “The intent is to provide players with a sense of dissappointment for defeating high level unique mobs. As for cost, GGG selected initial values based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, They’re looking at average per-player drop rates on a daily basis, and we’ll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course unattainable via gameplay. 1) They really need to increase boss loot and unique mobs like these, doing t15 kativa takes a good 2 minutes and you often end up getting nothing, while you can completely clear other maps in 2 minutes of time.

It sucks since majority of t14/t15s are like this, it's sad to say that t16 maps are shorter than t15 maps.

2) Encountered this for the first time in the excavation boss fight couple of days ago. It was a total clusterfuck, like nothing before and after was THAT hard, and in the end i got several scrolls and whetstones. :\ And that's after an exalt from some random barrel in blood aqueduct. R>N>G.

3)Then immediately after you kill basically a destroyer of worlds and a being beyond time itself....you go do a tier 1 map and common zombie drops a divine Chaos orbs or a mirror of kalandra.

Besides the Forsaken Masters about the only other thing I hate about PoE is that boss monsters should drop good/amazing gear especially over common no name enemies.

But there is a correlation that needs to happen in games like Path of Exile.

Is it fun to find an Exalt in a barrel? Sure, but you didn't do anything but click the screen and got that great reward.

Is it fun to go through an epic Abaxoth fight, dodging all his insane stuff, and finally taking him down? Yes! There is a sense of satisfaction there. But when you have to hit Alt to see the trash he dropped, that sense of satisfaction and fun goes out the window real quick.

Boss loot in this game is a real issue and it still astounds me they do nothing and say nothing about it. Path of Exile: What Do You Think Master Mission Improvements?

Would you like master missions to be updated to keep them fresh and relevant, or would you prefer GGG to focus elsewhere?

As a new player joining at the end of Harbinger league: The master missions are so tedious that I hardly bother doing it. I mean I do it because I need them level 8, but it's one of those things that are just a hassle.

I'm not against having to do master missions because it is satisfying to reach level 7 etc. But missions like Elreon where I just sit there spamming frost bolt for 60 seconds is just so out of pace with the rest of the game. In general I don't like content where I am waiting for the game.

Some mission ideas:

1.) Stupid missions get removed (vorici chest, catarina follow the leader, etc).

2.) Daily reward now gives 400% exp instead of 250%.

3.) Shared dailies now give 70% of the exp. (so you'd get 4.2 missions worth of exp from a rotation, same as a daiily with the new value).

4.) Map masters now give double the exp.

5.) Add master specific uniques (only droppable by master missions, or sellable at level.

6.) Ideally, make the missions fun, but one can dream. The other 5 points would make it so you don't skip masters, don't dread leveling masters, and don't really have to do rotations even though it would be faster (twice as fast).

7.) Playing a summoner for the first time, got a "Kill the target and leave at least one guard alive" mission. Little idiots ignored the exile and rushed all the weak guards and I failed the mission. It's super fun and skillful to not be allowed to win with my main skill and be required to keep a backup skill gem exclusively for this asshole.
No other master is so punishing on specific builds, it's ridiculous. And this is after nerfs to him, too.
